If anyone recognizes that line from an old Suicidal Tendencies song called Institutionalized.
Anyway, it’s been one of them days. I know, it’s the weekend and there’s not supposed to be ‘one of them kind of days.’ It wasn’t supposed to be, so here’s the poop: We went to a few stores today and were to come home to play games and scrap book. Neither happened. In fact Margaret is still setting up her stuff (while I keep mine in boxes). Me on the other hand had to repair Windows XP.
When we got home I noticed my computer Jeff’n up. So like any regular person running Windows I restarted the thing. When it came up it said ‘hal.dll’ is missing or corrupted. I know it’s not verbatim, but still I was surprised that something went awry. I popped in the Windows disc and started up my mad DOS skills that the thing uses to no avail. So in the end I had to act like I was going to re-install Windows and then use the repair tool that it had. If I knew of that darned thing I would’ve used it, because it took over 6 hours for chkdsk /r to complete.
So now I’m going to dual boot my system with XP and some Linux distro. If XP decides to jeff up again, then I’ll have a back up to tinker it into stumble mode.
I was this close (fingers held close together) to possibly buying Vista. Don’t know why. It’s a software issue and I was close to going back to the dark side. Anyway, I’m off looking for a good distro. Ubuntu is alright and Kubuntu seems the same. I might hit something else.
Our little family currently consists of Darryl, me, along with our pups Lucas & Lily. We've been together for 14 years now, and we love every minute of it. I enjoy all types of crafty things such as knitting, crocheting, photography, sewing, and making cards. Darryl enjoys gaming (both PC and PS3), playing guitar, cooking, and just veggin out. Lucas and Lily just love to sleep, eat, and pets.
