Margaret takes some very picture-esque pictures. I know I might sound biased, but it’s true.

She has an eye for scenes, nature, and oddities; to which are all beautiful. I swear, her and my dad have an eye for things.

Anyway, as you peruse this site, please take a look at some of the pics she’s taken. Yeah, not all of them are worthy of a book of “Margaret Photos,” but you’ll find that most of them are absolutely stunning. She has a knack for catching popping colors, dreary (which we find are gorgeous) states of nature, and happiness in a family collective.

Sweety, I love you and I think you take some of the most beautiful pictures. I’m glad that we have so much history that your pictures tell a story of us.

So for those of us that heard a portion of a song and then went looking for it by word of mouth will know my plight.

I heard a song on Live365 and it was called Traces by a group called Halica. So, I didn’t have to ask people about the main riff of the song or anything, but I heard a snippet that sounded really cool.

Margaret and I got the opportunity to download 50 songs for free today. Lo and behold, this site has the album. I figured that it was mellow and cool, so why not check out the rest of the album right?

Good Jeffin’ Lord, this is not what I expected. Imagine recording a melody you created and looping it over and over with a drum beat behind it. Boring as hell is what I call it. I was so bummed. I thought I would be getting so much more, but it’s just boring music.

I was brought back to a time when I was a kid and hearing a snippet on the radio and eventually getting the cassette to listen to the sound and fury of the awesomeness of what I had heard. Unfortunately, I was let down; as I was when I was a child; again.

I guess till this day anybody can get a record deal and put out crap. Don’t get me wrong; if I could; I’d remix this album and actually make structure of these songs.

Damn this terrible music!!! Damn it all to hell!

He started digging really quickly and with great intensity until he pulled back with a big fat gray mole in his mouth.

I said, “Drop it!” and he dropped it on the ground immediately. The poor critter was close to death, cause its hind legs were moving. I had to quickly say “good boy” to Luke so he would know what he did wasn’t bad. Well as I went in closer to look, Lucas darted down real quick and he had that mole right back in his mouth. This time when he dropped it, it wasn’t moving.

I think his taste of blood he got while kenneled at the vet gave him that lust for furry flesh. He apparently found a nest of baby bunnies and devoured them.

Silly dog.

Does anyone remember the Atari 2600, let alone it’s joystick controller? It was a stick and an orange button. Easy peasy right?

WRONG!!

Fast forward to the current release of the Sony Playstation 3. The controller has a helluva ton of buttons. You have 4 analog “trigger” buttons, 4 regular digital buttons (for your right thumb), and 2 analog thumb sticks that also double as buttons. So all in all (excluding the select, start, and Sony buttons) that’s a grand total of 10 buttons!!!

10 damned buttons. Why? Why do we need that many buttons? I would say that the point of diminishing returns has hit with this controller for quite some time. I never ever wanted to own a Playstation because of how many buttons the controller had and the functionality of it always seemed overwhelming. Now after owning a PS3 and playing certain first person shooters (FPS’s), racing games, and role playing games (RPG’s), I can say that all them buttons are not necessary. Give me a mouse and keyboard if you’re gonna make a game that extensively uses all buttons logically.

(side note, the reason I own a PS3 is due to the fact that the Nintendo Wii wasn’t doing it for me anymore and I wanted a console and Blu-Ray player that wouldn’t be obsolete due to new newer profiles)

I guess my question is, why can’t we have just 2 analog trigger buttons and two digital buttons on top? The analog sticks and digital pad (d-pad) are nice, but whatever. The original Nintendo and Sega Master System did fine with just 2 buttons, so why can’t we go back to that?

Now, lets tackle the “me too” factor of the Playstation 3 controller. One nice thing about getting away from the Wii was the waggle that came with it. The motion gimmick was fun while it lasted, but I was ready to move on. What did I find though with the PS3? A retarded version of the waggle because they had to have the “me too” factor. Do you know how annoying it is while playing an FPS that you have to stop what you’re doing, because there’s a huge controller graphic on the screen telling you to rotate your damned controller from left to right? It’s so annoying that I stop, take a piss break, and grab another beer, because I know time stands still at those moments. And I contemplate turning off the game to never to return to it ever, because of that shit.

So if that isn’t mildly annoying enough, Sony has introduced dual wielding dildos to control games (called the move). I kid you not, these black sticks have dildonic tendencies with one having a ping pong ball on top (I’m assuming that vibrates for her pleasure). Now I got away from the Wii, because of the waggle. But now Sony is bringing their version of the waggle to this damned system. They say that not all games will be affected by it, but I don’t believe them. I hope that gimmick dies a horrible death. Maybe down the road Sony will look back on this and say, “We shoulda just stuck with the machine that we originally decided to make without bandwagon jumping.”

btw, the most comfortable controller I ever used was the original large X-Box controller, seconded by the Dreamcast’s controller.

I’m 32 right now and I remember way back when that money was all that I could think of. I even confessed to Margaret; when we were 19; that people should give me money, because I am who I am. That amount would equal to a few million (if you’re out there listening, I’m talking to you!).

But I no longer feel that way. Nope, money isn’t where it’s at for me anymore, it’s family time. I’ve really enjoyed spending time with Margaret’s family down in Tennessee and my dad and Monique here as of late. We’re already talking about trips to seeing the rest of our family that’s spread out across the United States.

Family is where it’s at and I’m thankful that at my young age that I’ve come to realize that. Sure money is nice to have, but that’s not where my happiness lies anymore.

I’ll have to chalk this life lesson as a learning experience and I’m happy that I’ve learned it.

I wish we could have our days off together on the same days. I just hate that she’s going to be running errands without me…..especially when putting Luke up at the vet. Poor pup.

Anyway, I hope everyone has a happy and safe Memorial Day and remembers what that day was founded upon. Lord knows those were different times, though behind the scenes it seems things are just the same.

btw, Margaret is making a purse/bag and it’s alright. The outside; to me; is ugly, but the inside; to me; is pretty. Chalk it up to man mentality with no sense of style.

On April 30th at 1:15pm, Glen Marlin Ferguson, Sr. passed away at the young age of 64.

I met Margaret’s father some time in January of 1997. She built him up as a huge scary man. Someone that you don’t want to look cross at or say the wrong thing, because without warning, he would kick your ass. I remember being introduced to him and her mother. Both were sitting at his work building. I knew I had her mother won over already, but her father was going to be a tricky one to crack. So after a few jokes and wise cracks coming from her dad, I think he won me over more than anything. He was so funny, and every time I laughed at something he said Margaret would say, “Stop encouraging him!”

Glen grew up in a time like most of our parents: Farm life, hard parents, hard work, and tough times all around. He knew from his life experiences how to spot a bullshitter. He grew up doing things that a lot of us are learning to do again like making homemade soap, canning vegetables, pickling vegetables, hunting for meat, and gardening. His parents loved and cared for him, but also taught him the importance of hard work. And hard work he did. He went to Vietnam and survived an ambush by the Vietcong; while on patrol; where he was the only soldier to survive, he raised a family of 4 during hard economic times by doing anything he could to feed his wife and children, and eventually he worked for TVA and received an education in horticulture.

As time went on and he got a little older and wiser he mellowed out some. He no longer looked for fights and he no longer looked to give the law a hard time. He was still a tough man though. He had nerves of steel and strength in his arms that put a lot of young guys to shame (even this one).

When I met him, he had very strong family values. He loved his wife and children and would do anything for them. When he met me, he could tell I was genuine and that I wouldn’t do anything to hurt his princess. In fact he would repeatedly joke that he didn’t know how I put up with Margaret, cause she was to much like her momma. We would always laugh, cause me and him would always agree that we loved having a strong willed woman who gave us a challenge, because we knew that they’d be opinionated and wouldn’t hold back if we did something wrong.

There are a lot of memories I have with that man in the 14 years that I knew him and meeting him is another thing I can thank Margaret for. I learned a lot about Margaret from the times Glen and I sat outside drinking beer; either on the front porch or down at his building.

The world has lost a husband, a father, a pappaw, and a best friend.

Till we meet again daddy, I/we love you!
