Lazy Day Sunday

So today started off without a hitch, Margaret got up, made me coffee, cleaned the stove top, and then woke me up. It was very nice. I got in the kitchen and looked at the stove top and she said, “Well, I hope I cleaned it as good as you want it to be, so [...]

Neat Little Dish

When I got home tonight Margaret surprised me with a little dish that our neighbors (Jan & Dave) made. It seemed Mexican-ish or I guess maybe Spanish in nature, but anyway this is what went into it:
It was a blackened green chili pepper placed upon a tortilla, topped with egg and cheese. I put our [...]

Chicken Fried Liver!!!

So Margaret and I decided to make home made chicken fried steak. I purchased bottom round steaks that were already tenderized and thought that would’ve been enough for the toughness and boy was I wrong. The cooking process and yadda yadda was easy. It was the eating part that took the enjoyment out of eating [...]

Ripping Music

Since my last hard drive mishap (which was my fault), I’m stuck ripping all my CD’s again to the hard drive (for the 3rd time). This task really sucks, but in the mean time I’m able to find old gems that I’ve hung on to. I’ve found an old Mudvayne CD that was pretty cool, [...]

Mexican Fiest(a)

So today is the day before our anniversary of being married 8 years together and we decided to have a Mexican feast.
Since we currently do not have a grill we had to make do with what we have. So we purchased a cast iron Dutch oven and made our food in that. I went ahead [...]

Foodies!!!

I was up early this morning to bake more bread. I made 2 loafs of pumpkin, 2 loafs of applesauce, & 2 loafs of bannana nut. The turned out pretty good so I’m happy with my efforts. The only thing I was unable to get done today were the apple dumplings. I’m gonna do those [...]

What’s cooking… good looking!

It seems like Darryl and I were in the kitchen all weekend long.
We produced two soups (Creamy Chicken Mushroom & Chunky Beef Vegetable), a beef enchilada casserole, and two loafs of Applesauce Bread (which you see pictured here).
All of it was so tasty!!! I’m so glad that by hubby knows how to cook… or I’d [...]

The Great Unveiling!

Well folks here she is.  The wicked twin of Electric Sex. I’d like ya’ll to meet Gas-Similation.

It’s a pretty good range. So far! It’s been almost 20 years since I last cooked with gas and today’s experience was good. It’s funny, for our first meal it was Darryl’s (aka, great hot sandwiches). Dinner for tomorrow [...]

The Mysterious Box

I’m assuming that no one knows how to read the picture below, so tomorrow what will the great unveiling show?  A head popping out like a Jack in the box?  A large snake?  or maybe a million dollars?  What will it be?  The world may never know, till tomorrow.

It’s a date Phill

Yesterday Darryl took me on a date. It’s been a very long time since we’ve went on a date so of course I was excited to get out of the house! We decided to catch a movie and then grab a bite to eat, but it didn’t work out that way. Instead we ate at Puleo’s Grille first, which was [...]

Turkey Time

So today I started brining a turkey to cook later today. I’m using Alton Brown’s brining recipe (posted below). It’s not too bad, plus the bird comes out juicy and brown. Can’t ask for much more than that.
I’m just happy to use up a 14lb turkey before we move. This week will be many turkey [...]

Sugar Substitute

So we’ve been trying xylitol to possibly replace our stevia and man it’s been rough.
Basically, xylitol will kill the bad stuff in your gut while eliminating fungus (candida) in your body. It also is great for your teeth. The rough part about this “miracle” sugar is that if you eat too much of it, it’ll [...]

Bottom Dwellers

I don’t know what’s up with certain wine manufacturer’s, but why don’t they siphon the twigs and other nonessentials from wine prior to bottling?
I just finished my glass of wine and it was also the last bit of wine from the bottle. What do my eye’s see after my last sip? Friggin’ TWIGS!!! I just [...]
