What’s a girl to do…

I have all this beautiful fabric at my finger tips and all I’m waiting on is new inspiration. Hopefully that inspiration comes soon in the form of the books I ordered from Amazon. I bought a few that had been setting on my wish-list for awhile. I’m glad I waited because I was able to purchase them pretty cheap. I also bought some knitting books, but that’s a whole different post.

This is going to be a tote for me!!!

Unsure what I’ll make out of these… maybe skirts for my two older nieces Ash & Bec

This is going to be my computer bag… so excited about this project!!!!!!

I’m thinking these will make good table runners for this year… lost of colors and they span summer, spring, fall, & winter.

Last weekend I made mom a crochet tote to carry her stuff around in. Now the only problem is remembering to mail it to her… sorry mom!

Here are some of the projects I’ve been working on and finally got the pics up.

Dish drying mat – Darryl and I don’t have a dishwasher that works so we have to hand wash dishes. It’s not that bad because it’s just the two of us, but I got tired of using all our dish towels to lay our dishes on and then having to dry them all the time. (Darryl refuses to get one of those plastic dish drying racks). So I made this out of an old bath towel and a vintage sheet I bought @ goodwill for .50 cents. It really soaks up the water and doesn’t take forever to dry.

Tote – I love bags!!!!!! This one I use for my knitting yarn, but you can use them for groceries or a book tote (or just about anything really)

Hot pad for the table. I wanted to make something that would set on the table and could be used to set hot dishes on, but didn’t look ugly. So in honor of summer I made this lemon hot pad. It was super easy because it’s just a bunch of squares and rectangles.

Crochet/Knitting needle holder – I needed something to hold my crochet & knitting needles because I’m always losing them. So I made this really simple holder. Again really easy because it’s all squares & rectangles. And then I used an old belt of Darryl’s to close it up.

These are just a few things I’ve been working on. I will try to post more pics as I finish the projects, but sometimes I just forget…. lol

Thrifting and other things

I’m not feeling very happy today so Darryl took me out to breakfast and then let me stroll through some thrift stores. I bought some vintage pillow cases and fabric (that I plan on making bags with), this cool bowl with a painted dogwood blossom on it (that Darryl hates), and another basket (for my yarn).

Darryl found this in the glass section. WTF??? Who would buy a used Vlasic Pickle jar???? Who collects that stuff???

I picked this cookbook up at the library book sale for .35 cents. Darryl and I are fascinated by it. Most of the ingredients are recognizable, but there are some that I have no clue how to get my hands on.

with Green Craft magazine! It’s my new fav magazine! I found it while at Hobby Lobby with my friend Jen. Don’t get me wrong I don’t go in with the environmental issues, but I love to repurpose, reuse, and refurbish things. I’ve been pouring over the magazine constantly, and I’m loving the ideas that keep popping up in my head.

p.s. that saving the planet stuff is just a bunch of bullshit. If you believe in that stuff then I feel sorry for you and quite honestly I don’t want to hear you spouting on about it here. Besides I can delete your comments if you say something I don’t like (ultimate power is mine)

No no, not them kind, but of the sewing machine variety.

Sadly we mourn the loss of the piece of crap sewing machine that is the Singer Simple sewing machine. Out of the smoldering ashes of broken needles and wasted thread rises the Singer 7470 Confidence. It even had jail bate Martha Stewart on the damned box. Hopefully that hag won’t hex the machine, but I have to say if this Singer craps out, first I’ll get pissed, then make a few calls, and then switch over to Viking. Just because the name sounds friggin’ medieval.

Like a viking with my Viking I was sewing to the winds of Thor.

Margaret will post some pics, I’m sure of it.
