SOOOOO……………………………………………………………………………on top of that she also did the dishes. Yea, yea, we do have a dishwasher, but if you’ve seen the inside of it, you’d hand wash your dishes TOO!

After a bit of news and Sis posting I decided to start on the soup. Now that was around 9:40 when I started.

After about 2 hours (hey, perfection takes time, jackass) of soup making, I unveiled it to Margaret. She took a taste and said, “That’s not soup and that’s not white chicken chili. That’s creamy chicken soup.” Now that’s not what I was going for, because I was trying to make white chicken chili. Since I forgot the beans (hey, who hasn’t heard of bean-less chili?) I forged on anyway. I threw in the spices that I thought should be in there and voila. Got Me Chowder was born.

I basically thought of this recipe on my own without the influence of others. It’s basically potato’s diced, a whole chicken (shredded), onion, fresh parsley, and garlic. For the spices, it basically revolved around white pepper, chili powder, cayenne pepper, pepper, and salt. I didn’t want this to end up yellow or even orange, so I focused on the white pepper even though you can see the cayenne and chili pepper in there while you eat it. Time came and Margaret asked, “So, what are you going to call it?” and I said, “Got me.”

And thus Got Me Chowder was born.

It was battered around as Got Me Soup, Got Me Stewp, and Got Me Stuff. Since we already have Kick Ass Chicken Stuff we couldn’t have two “stuffs” in our cookbook.

For a first chowder I accidentally made, I’m pretty happy with it. The only thing I needed help with was in creating the rue, because I’ve only done it a couple of times and Margaret became pro overnight. I guess over-morning depending on how you look at it.

Nothing like thinking about the 7.7 trillion dollar bailout running through your mind with Hall & Oates playing Sara Smile. “Cause it’s you, and me, forev-ahh-aaaHHHAAHHH!!”

So, then I try to silence my mind to hear the natural white noise that surrounds us. (”It’s an energy field created by all living things. It surrounds us and penetrates us. It binds the galaxy together.”) And that didn’t help, because what do I hear sneaking up on me when I think I’m about to lull myself back into sleep?

That’s right, Dominick the Donkey.

Oh well, thankfully when I got up Margaret had my lunch made and coffee ready for me.

Don’t know what I’d do without her sometimes. Other times though….I just want to upgrade to an ‘88 model hehe. Just kidding sweetness. *wink wink*

It was a blackened green chili pepper placed upon a tortilla, topped with egg and cheese. I put our salsa on it and it was rather tasty. Cholula might be good on it too. Oh yea, don’t forget to add a bit of salt and pepper.

To mix it up a bit I think I’ll use fresh green chili peppers and blacken them. Your tongue can kinda guide you to the flavor that you’re tasting for.

But yea, overall that was real good. I wouldn’t have thought of pairing those items together even though I do for soups. It was nice coming home to my little lady and her having a little surprise snack to make me.

You could tell on Margaret’s face that she wasn’t digging the meat. Of course I knew that when it hit my mouth I was thinking to myself, “wow, this tastes like chicken livers, only tougher.” And that’s when Margaret said, “It still tastes like liver!” Since I’ve never had bad chicken fried steak, this taste was foreign to me. Heck, even my moms wasn’t tough, chewy, or liver tasting (I think it’s because she’s a mom though, they have that touch).

So I ate 1 of Margaret’s steaks which brought me up to 3 steaks with mashed potatoes. I was stuffed. Too stuffed. And that was our adventure in Chicken Fried Steak.

Okay, so I’m not listening to Steely Dan, but I am currently drinking my manly woman drink (whiskey, amaretto, and pepsi) minus the maraschino cherry.

Margaret and I are currently listening to Asia, which will kick start our 80’s evening (Heat of the Moment anyone???). This includes music I personally own and youtube video’s for nostalgia. We do this periodically when partially or fully lit. What follows includes bad karaoke and air drumming.

Today kicked off in a weird way. It was 2:50am and we were awake. This was after the fact that I told Margaret that I wasn’t going to wake up at 5am to go to the gym. Anyway, a pot of coffee, couple hours of Planet Earth, and Final Fantasy III (DS) later I was ready for a nap. So I laid down for an hour and slept a little longer while Margaret crocheted a bit. When I woke up I called for her like a kid with a wet diaper (this gives me a lot of sympathy for extra snuggle time, but don’t tell her it’ll be our secret). And would you believe she offered me another pot of coffee? I swear it must’ve been a full eclipse outside (kidding!!!). Then Margaret says, “Hey, lets get those flannel sheets we saw last week!” How could I resist? I was comfortable with the one I love and she’s proposing getting comfy warm sheets. Needless to say I was game, so we went and got them. Unfortunately the first set we got only had 1 pillow case in it. Even though it was tempting to keep the set we returned them for a “full” set.

The prompting for the comfy sheets was the calling of snow for today. I can tell you with sadness in my heart that there is currently no snow on the ground and there wasn’t even a tease of it earlier today. What’s up with that mother nature? Guess we’re stuck waiting on the old man.

Welpers kids I’m out. Currently playing Big Country’s In A Big Country.

I did squats this morning at the gym and my legs are so sore already. I feel the soreness in the area where there’s the most fat (and stretch marks, EEEK!!!). So for the next couple of days it’ll hurt to sit, shit, and stretch.

Ummmm, what else…..I still need to buy stamps for my mom’s birthday card. Damned post office around here is like a chameleon. The address says that it’s near the mall and when you follow the directions there’s nothing. Makes me wonder if it really exists. Maybe it does on another astral plain or another universe? Hmmm, we shall see, yes we shall see.

Oh the good times we had.

Cheesy Vid and all. Little known fact, the lady doing the gymnastics in the video had to perform those stunts over razor blades and spiked boards. You can look it up if you want.

There was a DVD that my mom and stepdad purchased called Windy City Heat. Margaret, Holly, Travis, and I watched it. Of course we laughed. Mom maybe watched a little bit of it till heading off to bed, but overall it’s a movie that they haven’t watched (from mom’s account).

So here’s to mom possibly watching Windy City Heat laughing her butt off. We’ll see what happens tomorrow when the saga continues………………….
