There’s a leash law in Michigan. And this dog’s owner thinks her dog minds and will let it out in the yard without a tie down or anything.  Needless to say, Lucas has had run ins with this dog before; because of the same crap.

I hear as I’m peddling, “Snoop, get back here!” and before I could do anything, Lucas has stopped dead in his tracks and the other dog attacks him.  Now, you need to realize this dog is way smaller than Lucas, even smaller than Lily.  Amidst this chaos. I caught a glance of Lucas having this dog by the throat and shaking the shit out of him.  I saw the poor dog’s mouth open as if trying to gasp for air and I was thinking to myself, “oh shit, Lucas is really giving this dog hell.” Around this point, the other dog let out a terrible yelp to which I ditched the bike altogether and really gave Lucas a hell of a pull to get him off the other dog.

At this point Margaret is running down the street to me and the other dog’s owner is close to me and she’s yelling at her dog to stop.  Her dog tries coming at Lucas again.  Luckily the other dog’s owner scooped up her dog before he could get close and I asked her to check him over to make sure he was okay and she just looked at her dog and said, “I don’t know why he acts like he’s bigger than he is.” Insert facepalm here.

We ended up walking Lucas and Lily around the block after that.  It was when we got closer to home that Margaret spotted his nose bleeding.  Talk about a wave of anger and frustration rushing over you, because if that owner was responsible then this wouldn’t have happened (again).

And Darryl finally got to play with his New toy.

Since I’ve been hankering for a strategy game, I settled for Privateer; which is set in the Wing Commander universe.  I downloaded this from GOG.com and it does not disappoint.

For an older game it does right; gameplay wise; what current games cannot manage (Sol for example).

It manages to have a great radar, keep suspense, and not make you feel helpless.  One thing I have found with a current game called Sol is that while the graphics look good, It’s not fun due to the relentlessness of the AI.

Maybe that’s why I am drawn to these older space-Sims.  The older ones have a better story, better gameplay, and a more immersive universe.

Granted that Sol is new and developed by an upstart company, I hope the next iteration is closer to classic games.  Then I think, they’ll have a good handle on bringing the genre back

I’m very thankful for her kindness, generosity, humor, patience, and love.  I could go on and on about how wonderful she is, but I think she speaks for herself quite amazingly.
I’m very happy to say that with the 15 years we’ve been together that you just get better and better every year.

This is a New Years day I can support.

I hope 2012 will be better for everyone that has had a rough 2011.

We’ve been fortunate this year to evade the eye of the corporate axe, so lets pray that 2012 will be as safe.

For anyone out there that’s faced hardships due to a terrible economy and lack of jobs available; there’s always revolution.
