Other Peoples Kids at the Beach…

don’t have any clue who these kids are (except for the last), but I thought they were cute so I took the photos.

this little boy was having so much fun playing in the cold water… Lake Michigan apparently doesn’t get very warm.

look at his tongue sticking out… he is trying hard to get out of that water…

This little boy really stood out in this yellow shirt… he was on a mission to explore the whole beach (without his mom)

I’m guessing he wanted to feel the warm sand…

and from the look of it he didn’t like how it felt on his hand.

There he goes… he hasn’t responded to his mom yelling his name 3x’s, not even a glance back to acknowledge her.

And here comes mom to put a stop to the exploring….

This little bugger was the sweetest little boy… the first picture doesn’t show it, but he was all smiles. Didn’t cry or whine… he just loved to hang out and watch everyone… and boy did he love the women… he flirted shamelessly with all of us…

look at those two bottom front teeth… how cute!!!!

And of course I can’t post without including a picture of my wonderful handsome husband…. he is just so cute…

Kids

I don’t know what it is, but driving by a school and seeing the little kids out playing just warms up my heart.

They have no worries, other than what cartoon to watch or what junk food to eat.

I was watching kids walking around the playground, some gabbing to one another, some in a small clique, some playing ball, and some just enjoying the out doors.

There’s just something about seeing how happy they are.

She’s having a baby

A friend of ours is having a baby. Her name is Krystal and she’s really excited. So lets all give her a congrats and hope that her mornings and days will not be filled with throwing up and the shits.

I got dibs that she might have a girl. Yea, I’m pretty sure of it. I don’t think it’ll be a boy. My spiritual advisor (beer) is telling me that’s it’s going to be a girl.

Baby Math

Ya’ll know what baby math is and don’t even know it yet.

It’s simple, the formula is M/12 (or M divided by 12). New parent’s use this math. When you ask how old there kid is, they’ll tell you there kid 34 months old. Which makes you put the hamster back on the wheel to figure out how old “exactly” this kid is (“I know it’s over 2 years old……no wait…3 years old? No that’d be 36 months, AAAARRRGGGHHH!!!!!” grabs machine gun and kills parent’s).

You know what I’m talking about, I’m sure there are people in your family or friends of yours that do this. It’s insane and needs to stop. So this is my proposal: When baby math rears it’s head, look the parent’s dead in the eye and ask, “What’s that in years?” That way, you’ll confuse them, because they’re on a different scale. You’ll snap them out of the micro-managing of their baby’s age and bring them to a moment of clarity.

Here’s how the scenario should go:

Person A: “Wow, what a gift from heaven, how old is she?”
Persons B&C in unison: “She’s 18 months old!!”
Person A: “What’s that in years?”
Persons B&C look at each other confusingly and Person B looks at you and says mournfully: “A year and a half?”

Person A smiles broadly, pats Persons B&C on the back, and mounts his horse and rides off into the sunset, because he knows, he brought some people back into reality.

Big changes

Darryl and I have been making some big, life altering decisions lately. Normally I don’t mind change; it’s the one certainty in an uncertain world, but too much change is sometimes hard to take. Maybe that’s why my head feels like it’s spinning off. : o)Our first major decision was starting a family which you all know about. I don’t think we mentioned that if it’s a boy, the name is going to be Spencer Reed Thaden. Darryl’s sister Holly said this was a geeky name… she put it right up there with Eugene (yuck!). Darryl and I really like the name, plus it’s a tribute to one of our favorite Bill Murray flicks “The Man Who Knew Too Little“.

The second is moving back down to our home town of Rockwood, to be closer to both sets of parents. I think this will make having a baby easier on both of us. We started looking around last weekend at the real-estate ads and found a house 5 minutes away from my parents. The square footage was twice what we have now and the amount was perfect for our budget. However this not our only option… my parents own 20 acres which they are willing to deed 5 over to us so we can build a house. Personally I would rather build a house, but how can you ask the love of your life to live that close to his mother-in-law?? Not that they don’t get along, but seriously who wants to live that close to in-laws? Being the great husband he is; Darryl did some research online and found information on Geodesic (dome homes) & other pre fab homes. Of course it’s still too early to be planning all that, but I like to dream.

The third is going back to school. I die a little inside every time I walk through the doors at my current job and I know Darryl does to. We’ve decided to take steps to remedy that. I’m going to obtain my bachelors in applied science and then move on to my masters in information & library science, so I can become a librarian. Darryl will be going back to school to obtain a bachelors in computer science (not sure which field), and then move on to a job that is both challenging & rewarding for him.

I’m happy, excited, & a little anxious over these changes that are being made. However, I know with Darryl by my side I can do anything!
