I have all this beautiful fabric at my finger tips and all I’m waiting on is new inspiration. Hopefully that inspiration comes soon in the form of the books I ordered from Amazon. I bought a few that had been setting on my wish-list for awhile. I’m glad I waited because I was able to purchase them pretty cheap. I also bought some knitting books, but that’s a whole different post.

Here are some of the projects I’ve been working on and finally got the pics up.

Dish drying mat – Darryl and I don’t have a dishwasher that works so we have to hand wash dishes. It’s not that bad because it’s just the two of us, but I got tired of using all our dish towels to lay our dishes on and then having to dry them all the time. (Darryl refuses to get one of those plastic dish drying racks). So I made this out of an old bath towel and a vintage sheet I bought @ goodwill for .50 cents. It really soaks up the water and doesn’t take forever to dry.

Tote – I love bags!!!!!! This one I use for my knitting yarn, but you can use them for groceries or a book tote (or just about anything really)

Hot pad for the table. I wanted to make something that would set on the table and could be used to set hot dishes on, but didn’t look ugly. So in honor of summer I made this lemon hot pad. It was super easy because it’s just a bunch of squares and rectangles.

Crochet/Knitting needle holder – I needed something to hold my crochet & knitting needles because I’m always losing them. So I made this really simple holder. Again really easy because it’s all squares & rectangles. And then I used an old belt of Darryl’s to close it up.

These are just a few things I’ve been working on. I will try to post more pics as I finish the projects, but sometimes I just forget…. lol

I wasn’t ready to leave after the 2 hours so we’re planing another scrapnight hopefully real soon. We’ve decided that the next scrapbooking get together should be more of a full day instead of just a few hours. I’m so excited!!!!

So to help make the transition easier on them (yeah right) I decided to make up little care packages to send them. I figure it’ll help us stay in touch with each other outside of work. Below are the cards I’ve made to go along with the care packages. Once I’m finished with everything I’ll post a photo of all the cool stuff I’m sending them from St. Joe!!! I know I’m totally the nicest person ever… you don’t have to tell me…

Well today’s project was to turn a shelf into a paper holding shelf for Margaret’s scrap booking stuff. I never realized the cost of simple materials for a simple project. I went to Home Depot and purchased 3 maple boards that were of good size and some screws. I managed to get 9 14″x13″ boards and 9 11″x9″ boards. All I was left was with 6″ of scrap overall. Anyway, for the small amount of supplies I purchased it still came out over 60 bucks.

I started working on the shelf around 10 this morning and didn’t finish till 4:50 this evening. It kinda sucks trying to make sure stuff is level when you really don’t have the proper tools. I pretty much had my trust Dewalt cordless drill, 2 levels, a mallet, my drill bits, and a saw. You might be asking what the saw was for? Basically it was the only straight thing I had so I could draw lines. The end result was a happy wife. I’m dog assed tired though. I don’t think I want to do that again unless I have the proper tools on hand and maybe more experience. It really shouldn’t take anyone 6 hours to put shelves in an already made shelf.
