I start one of my new schedules next week. I’ll work from 9:30 to 6, which isn’t too bad. If this was Knoxville that’d be perfect, but since this is St. Joe it doesn’t really matter. It’s funny to hear what people call traffic and heat. But it’s no laughing matter when you hear them recall winter. All that talk of snow makes me shutter, but being German I should be able to tough it out. Of course, I guess we’ll see how tough I am when that lake effect wind and snow hit my bones.

This week we’re doing pretty good. We’re no longer living out of ice chests and have a refrigerator finally. I dubbed it ‘electric sex’ for anyone who can catch that movie reference.
The fridge is frickin’ huge. It easily dominates the kitchen. I can only imagine what that thing does when we’re gone. It probably intimidates the old dishwasher in the house. We’re supposed to have a range soon. We know it’s in town, but we’re awaiting a call to go and pick it up. So it’s straight up griddle cooking. Who am I kidding, I haven’t cooked a thing on that griddle. That’s all been Margaret. She’s been an awesome cook (even though she’ll swear that something that she’s cooking came from a box).

Let’s see what else. Gas prices suck here as much as anywhere else. Luckily we can go about 2 to 3 weeks before filling up. Still sucks filling up 40 bucks worth of gas when you just want 10 gallons. I’m just waiting for enough people to get fed up and finally join others like me in making the government the public servants that they ‘electfully’ are.

Other than that, that’s it folks.

Long story short, I had an interview this past Thursday that went well and had my pee test today. I start on September 8th which will be cool. I’ll be able to have some contractors come to the house and give estimates for redoing most of the house.

Priority 1 for the house: redoing the electricals and plumbing.

Thank goodness for old houses

With that, I hope everyone had a great New Years eve and didn’t party too hard and woke up sick throwing up this morning.

Not only does this Monday signify a first day in the year but also the first day in a week long celebration of my wifes birth. Her birthday is on January 4th and she’ll be 29 this year. She’s excited on turning 30, I have no idea why, especially since she tried to find gray hairs on her head. I think she’s the only person I know of that enjoys growing old. For me, I can’t wait to be retired and then passing on to be with my eternal family and being with my wife forever.

I do have some good news though. Last Friday with a helpful suggestion from my brother-in-law John, I have a job to go to on Tuesday. Truly a blessing. 2006 was quite a year. Emotionally not a good one, but spiritually an awesome one. My wife has been with me through so much I don’t know how I’d repay her. She’s been with me through my dad going over sea’s, two of my grandmothers passing, and just recent my brother. I’ve been there for her when her last grandmother passed. I can tell you all, it’ll be hard when our parents start passing. That is something we all dread, because parents are our guiding light when our judgment is foggy. Like a beacon. One thing I can tell though, we have more angels around us more than ever looking out for us.

I can tell that 2007 will be a good year. To me all the heartache and hardships we suffered were tests by God to reaffirm our faith. I love and respect the things that come our way a lot more than I previously had and I cherish my friends more than I ever had.

Yes, 2007 will be a great year.

I can’t wait for this weekend. If ya’ll can believe Margaret found her first beer that she likes. It’s made by Shiner Beers and it’s called Shiner Hefeweizen. Yea, I was shocked. And to further my “shockness” she looking forward to having a Corona with lime this weekend. How cool is that? It was nice to enjoy a beer with the misses. Since she’s new to beer drinking, she’s new to the bloatedness and good buzz you get from beer. I have to say, we both felt like a couple of hams after 3 beers. Wine sure doesn’t make you bloated.

Darryl was offered & accepted a position as a junior drafter with Saddlebrook Homes today. ***Yippee*** I’m a little sad because this will be the first time in 4 yrs that Darryl & I have not worked together, but I’m so happy that he is finally getting a job that will be both challenging & rewarding.On a personal note… Darryl, I know you will surpass any expectations the folks at Saddlebrook Homes have of you. With your easy manner, quick learning, knowledge, & ability you’ll have them eating out of the palm of your hand. I am so very proud of you for taking a chance & stepping out of your comfort zone. This will be an opportunity for you to move on to bigger & better things. I love & adore you more then words can express!
