WOW!!!

It’s been forever since I’ve posted here! Nothing has changed much… I’m mostly working (all the time), and in between I’m trying to knit. I’ll try to give you a quick run down of what’s been going on.. here go’s. So I finished my first sweater, made a cardigan, currently working on my second sweater along with other miscellaneous things. Darryl has been cooking a lot (mostly Chinese food *yummy*). We’ve got our new AC unit installed along with a new “high tech” control panel (it scares me). Darryl just bought a snow blower (is new big boy toy). I’ve been harvesting all the black walnuts I can steal from the squirrels, we received a whole bunch of green tomatoes from a lady that Darryl works with, and a half a bushel of apples from out neighbors. Lucas and Lily are working out great! We’ve really been enjoying the cool walks and the shorter days. I finally finished Darryl’s fish shorts!!! We have our 11th year anniversary coming up and we’ve decided to take the entire week off. I can’t wait to have some time with Darryl!

I’ve been going over some of the photo’s Margaret has posted on here and I swear, she is such a great photographer. She’s able to capture moments and just catch ‘things’ in shots……it’s so amazing.

I don’t think I’ve laughed and reminisced as much in a long time.

Making dough $$

Today I really wanted some fresh homemade bread, so I went to my old standby recipe Tassajara yeast bread.

I got out all my ingredients, cookbook, mixed, kneaded, shaped, let rise, baked…..

I love bread! The mixing, the kneading, the rising, the baking, the eating. Yep, I love everything about bread.

Everything except what happens when I try to bake bread while PMSing. I’ve heard my mama tell me for years “women should not bake during their monthly cycle” … I even believe it for the most part, and yet I keep trying to beat the jinx. Well I guess I’ll just keep trying like I did today.

So I trashed the bread and poured myself more wine…. I figure Darryl can always make me some bread tomorrow.

I finished the peapod for my S-I-L tonight. I think it’s cute and I believe it’ll keep little John warm. I tried to make it big enough for her to use it as LJ grows bigger.

Winter Morn

Two mornings in a row we’ve woken up to wonderful layer of snow on the ground and in the trees. I love snow when it’s clean and undisturbed. I love being the first out in it… before the tracks of other people, animals, cars, and snow plows mar the scene. It’s so peaceful tromping through the snow at 7 am. Everything is silent, and the sun is just starting to peek out to brighten things up . It’s a beautiful sight, and can make your soul feel at one with mother nature.

I found this great tutorial on making a Trashy Novel Wallet, and couldn’t resist making one of my own (minus the trashy novel cover, but only because I don’t have one). I think this is a great idea for those times when you don’t want to lug around a purse. Your id, $$, & credit card fit snugly inside and can slip into your back pocket.

This is my fist attempt… I’m already plotting my next one (I think I’ll get smaller snaps next time)
