Reflecting On A Life That Is

You know, this post started back when Margaret went to Canada and the title is as far as I got.

When she’s gone I get very depressed. I tend to reflect back on the times we’ve shared and our lives. Having someone in your life for so long and not realizing what you have until it’s gone is quite an awakening.

Sorta like the Daryl Hall and John Oates song called ‘She’s Gone.’ Yeah I better learn how to face it, but she’s gone. The great thing is, she’s coming back to me on Thursday! That song has a lot of emotion in the vocal melody and music to really stand out to me. Of course the lyrics suggest a different tale, but that’s not what I’m getting at.

I love Margaret more than anything. She’s my little 5’2″ little momma. Little momma short legs. Old woman (said in a shout).

It’s been forever since I’ve posted here! Nothing has changed much… I’m mostly working (all the time), and in between I’m trying to knit. I’ll try to give you a quick run down of what’s been going on.. here go’s. So I finished my first sweater, made a cardigan, currently working on my second sweater along with other miscellaneous things. Darryl has been cooking a lot (mostly Chinese food *yummy*). We’ve got our new AC unit installed along with a new “high tech” control panel (it scares me). Darryl just bought a snow blower (is new big boy toy). I’ve been harvesting all the black walnuts I can steal from the squirrels, we received a whole bunch of green tomatoes from a lady that Darryl works with, and a half a bushel of apples from out neighbors. Lucas and Lily are working out great! We’ve really been enjoying the cool walks and the shorter days. I finally finished Darryl’s fish shorts!!! We have our 11th year anniversary coming up and we’ve decided to take the entire week off. I can’t wait to have some time with Darryl!

I’ve been going over some of the photo’s Margaret has posted on here and I swear, she is such a great photographer. She’s able to capture moments and just catch ‘things’ in shots……it’s so amazing.

I don’t think I’ve laughed and reminisced as much in a long time.

Heaven

Thought about it today after making the comment: my ideal version of heaven would be hanging out in a kitchen, cooking, while talking with family and friends.

The kitchen would have any ingredient that I’d need and would have any beverage available to serve. It’d also have a couple of high end computers in it for gaming breaks and a fat pipe of an internet connection. You know for youtube and other funny sites to laugh at earthlings.

So if y’all are in the neighborhood, stop by Darryl’s kitchen.

I thought I was doing the right thing by purchasing and downloading your professional edition of Windows 7 upgrade, but come “clean install time” and your software shits the bed.

Over 200 dollars later and I’m downloading a FULL version of the basic home version.

Would love to be able to upgrade the wife’s XP machine, but if her hard drive dies; I’m not going through this again.

I sure as hell wish the Linux O/S was mainstream and supported like the Android O/S. Would be much cheaper and I’m sure more hardware and software efficient.

Piggin N Grinnin

There’s a place in Benton Harbor called Piggin N Grinnin. It’s supposedly the barbecue place around here. Well today my boss bought us lunch and I got to try it out.

I ordered a pretty safe meal : brisket sammich, potato salad, and barbecue baked beans.

The barbecue sauce gets a 5 out of 10. It had an overall good flavor. It wasn’t overly sugary and had just enough of a peppery bite to let you know it was there. Not bad.

The brisket I give a 1 out of 10. It had a smoke ring, but by tasting it, it might as well have come out of a crock pot. It had no flavor what so ever.

The potato salad gets a 1 put of 10. Like the meat, it had no flavor and it had celery seed in it. For me celery seed belongs in coleslaw and not potato salad. The seeds did not provide any enhancement or anything to the salad. I did try to taste it to see if it meshed and it wasn’t for me.

The baked beans get a 1 out of 10. These were run of the mill terrible baked beans. When you took a bite there wasn’t anything special. Nothing popped out to make them scream “we’re awesome” in your mouth.

Overall I give Piggin N Grinnin 2.5 links out of 10. I’m glad I didn’t spend money there, but I am glad I got to try them.
