I took the girls (Becca, Ashley, Arial, & Allie) to the Midtown Drive-in tonight to see Space Chimps. We got there around 7pm, and the movie didn’t start until 9:30pm. We sat there waiting on the movie to start and ate popcorn & candy, talked about school and boys, and had a really good time. Once the movie started the girls started to get restless. They were tired and uncomfortable. Luckily the movie was only 1hr and 21 mins long. I felt bad for Ashley and Becca… this movie was way to young for them, but they were good sports about it.

Over all it was a cute movie, but only for children 8 and under. Children old then that probably wouldn’t like it.

What a week. I got over the creepy crud a couple weeks ago and then I get sick AGAIN!!!!

I don’t know what it is (old age probably). My nose started running late Saturday night after a pitcher of margaritas and then it got stopped up on Sunday. Wednesday was the worst though. I felt like hammered dog shit, because I was aching all over, I was congested something fierce, and I had a slight headache. I called Margaret during lunch letting her know I was feeling bad and she said she could tell in my voice and advised me to try and stick it out the rest of the day. And that I did, but boy was it hard. I was so happy when I got home. I took a hot and very relaxing clay bath for about 30 minutes. When I got out I my skin was red all over, because the clay draws out toxins from the pores in your skin. Then Margaret put some Super Strength Oreganol oil on my spine and rubbed it in (boy did that burn). I put some on the soles of my feet and then crawled into bed. She made me drink some water and take some Oregaresp and the oregano oil under my tongue. Margaret even broke out the heating pad for my back (she’s so sweet).
Needless to say, I slept great and woke up feeling 10 times better. I only had a stopped up nostril and a little bit of congestion. I took some Aleve just in case though along with the rest of my medicine.

I really don’t know what I would’ve done without Margaret being there. She was such a doll baby. She even brought me up food, because I was hungry a bit. We did watch a movie together, it was called Undercover Blues. I have to tell you, I’ve been telling her about this movie ever since we’ve been together (1996) and she finally go to experience it. And the verdict is, is that she loved it. We’ll be purchasing it soon. I rented two other movies that she hasn’t seen, they are Skin Deep and Moving Violations. I grew up with all these movies, so I hope the other two hold up to the expectations that I remember. At least for her sake, lol. She’s watched numerous movies I recommended and some have been crap. Like Transformers the movie (the 80′s cartoon movie).

So it’s 7:30 as I’m writing this and I can breathe out of both nostrils and the congestion has gone way way down from this morning.

Welpers kids that’s all from this end.

TTYL <— don’t ya just hate that?

I’ve had a wonderful weekend! On Saturday I came home from work and took a nap… then D and I took a shower and got ready to take my brother out for CONGRATS dinner. Unfortunately John and Michelle couldn’t make it because Michelle was working late. But Darryl and I stopped at a new little BBQ place called Shane’s Rib Shack. Okay food, and good service. Then Darryl took me to Scrapbooks and More store. I was in scrapbooking heaven! We then headed to Blockbuster and rented 3 “silly” movies, Joe Dirt (sucked), First in Show (good), and P.S. Your Cat is Dead (sucked).

On Sunday Darryl and I were lazy and stayed in bed until 9:30am. Stopped @ Weigles to get coffee and then headed to Wal-mart to do some grocery shopping. Went to Office Max and decided to replace the 2006 calendar still hanging in the kitchen with a dry erase calendar. Darryl made my much awaited birthday dinner (lamb chops, herbed mashed potatoes, mushrooms in white wine, & broccoli) and while he was cooking I went through all my scrapbook magazines and pulled out all the layouts I liked. After eating dinner Darryl and I went for a walk and I took lots of pictures. Now Darryl is enjoying a bowl of ice cream with pineapple topping (yum yum) while surfing online.

For my birthday I got the movies cars & monsters Inc from Darryl. I also received “Thunderstruck” by Erik Larson from Kathy and Terry. (I’m totally loving Devil in the White City by the way, and now that the OT has stopped I plan on finishing it up by next weekend.) (PS Terry I’m sending you “Portrait of a Killer; Jack the Ripper case closed” by Patricia Cornwell.) Next weekend I’m going to my parents and I’m sure I’ll be getting more presents there. I’ll post about the little treasures I get.

Took this picture today while Darryl and I were walking, and since I love it I decided to post it on the blog tonight.

Title/Author: Hissy Fit by Mary Kay Andrews
Pages: 419
Rating: 4.5/5
Format: Hardback
Comments: Keeley Murdock catches her fiancé A.J. Jernigan having sex with her best friend/maid of honor Paige @ the rehearsal dinner. After pitching a royal hissy fit the whole wedding is called off. Keeley throws herself into her work and try’s to salvage what’s left of her pride. However the Jerrigan’s decided to put a little financial pressure on Keeley and her family. Soon Keeley and her aunt Gloria find that their interior decorating business is not fairing so well. In comes Will Mahoney who hires Keeley to renovate his antebellum mansion for the woman of his dreams who doesn’t even know he exists. Then to add to the mix there is Keeley’s friend Austin who is bound and determined to find Keeley’s mom who has been missing for more the 20 years.

Not one of your average chick lit books. This book is filled with small town politics, laughter, love, adultery, family, great friends, & mystery. All the ingredients needed to make a wonderful book. Another great one from Andrews, and I would definitely suggest this book to anyone looking for something to read @ the beach!

Title/Author: Revenge of the Middle-Aged Woman
Pages: 357
Rating: 4/5
Format: Paperback
Comments: I was infuriated at Rosie for not fighting. She didn’t yell, scream, or pitch a fit about losing her husband and job to Minty. If there is one thing I hate it’s a woman acting like a door mat. But Rosie didn’t act like a door mat. She fought when she needed too and gave in when she felt like it. She picked up the pieces of her battered heart and went on living. In the end she became a stronger woman then Minty will ever be.

Title/Author: A Little Change of Face by Lauren Baratz-Logsted
Pages: 336
Rating: 2.5/5
Format: Paperback
Comments: The premise of the story is that 40-ish Scarlett Stein decides to make herself dowdier in order to prove to her friend (Pam) that men like her for who she is not what she looks like.

I thought the story sounded unique so I picked it up. The newness wore off around the 5th chapter, and I started skimming around the 7th chapter. The story had so much promise but it ended up falling flat. The characters were shallow, selfish, and acted like they were in high school. Try as I might I just couldn’t put forth the effort to finish this book cover to cover. One main reason is I dislike reading a book about women (most of which were going on 40 years old) acting like a bunch of immature 10th graders. That was the biggest turn off for me. I had planned on reading “The Thin Pink Line” by the author also, but I think I’ll set it aside for now. I don’t know if I can take it.
