I hate math! hate math! hate math!

I’ve finally finished and passed Quantitative Literacy: Statistics, Probability, & Problem Solving. I’m so glad to have this test behind me forever! The stress of this course has weighed heavy on my shoulders. So heavy that my sleep and eating patterns have changed for the worse, and I’ve been off kilter for weeks. I’m just so honestly glad to have it over with!

On the bright side Darryl and I have joined a hiking club. It starts May 2nd and will meet every Sunday until June 27th. We will hike a total of 70 miles in the course of the two months. I”ll be bringing my camera with me so I’ll be able to post lots of good photos each Sunday night. It’ll be nice to get some exercise and hangout with my hubby in the nice outdoors.

I’ll be happy to have some time off in May. It will give me the chance to get some of my long standing projects done. Hopefully I’ll also have time to post some photos of the projects that I’ve already finished.

Now I can move on to Quantitative Literacy: Statistics, Probability and Problem Solving & Fundamentals of Economics, Global Business and Quantitative Analysis. I’m hoping to use this time between semesters to study so I’ll be prepared for the tests come Nov 1st. Once these two tests our out of the way the rest will be a piece of cake.

And now I’m going to relax… so don’t ask me to do anything (that means you Darryl!)

You know, you’d never think such an abomination on this planet would happen two times, but it did.

It was last weekend. It started off innocently enough, but the next thing I know we’re all stuck in the basement hammering out school work. The clencher, the date was September 12th and we had two assignments that had to be turned in by September 15th.

The assignments you might ask? The first one involved a topic of our choice in how science has changed certain things perspectives, like climate change and recycling. We knocked out that paper Sunday morning. After that paper it was on to the next assignment, which was a friggin’ science project. Margaret did hers on thermal dynamics of water and salt water. Mine was on moisture retention of different soil types. We knocked that assignment out around 6am Monday morning.

So now you that you know a little history let me embellish a bit.

When Margaret and I do our assignments during crunch time, it’s straight up work work work. Throw a little booze into the equation and voila, our formula for success. The first assignment was nothing, we can knock out papers in a day or two with all references and citations. It was that damned science project. Margaret got hers done in no time and mine…….we’ll get back to that when I get my grade. But it was the paper portion of writing down all the crap that we had to use, how we used it, and why that took all the time. Totally sucked.

I knew on Sunday evening that the Weekend of Eternity wasn’t full blown as the first time, but it reared its ugly head to let us know that it’s still there. While we were walking the dog Monday morning, it almost felt like a religious experience, because I felt so happy that everything was done and the Weekend of Eternity lost another battle.

Margaret and I received the results of our second class and we passed.

It wasn’t bad, because it was essentially two papers that we had to write. The hard part is down the road where we take the test, but you know WGU has been pretty good so far as in making you study what you need to know. And it’s not like you’re really studying, because you’re researching information on your papers, so of course you’re going to retain more info. That’s not trying to say we won’t be studying, but you get the gist of it.

Other than that, that’s all I gots to report on. I’m gonna enjoy my coffee and let my belly settle from my awesome egg breakfast.

We’re finally done with both of our Business Ethics papers. Pretty much all week we’ve been reading & doing the soft skills tests to get prepared to start writing the two essays. The softskills is just another system that WGU uses to help it’s students become familiar with the course content. I have to say I enjoy those more then reading the book itself. While reading I found my mind wondering onto other things.

The first essay we had to write was an opinion piece based on a given situation of a company who does have a very good social responsibility to the surrounding community. I found this paper really hard and could feel myself struggling to find the words to convey what I was trying to say. Of course this is an area that continually stumps me. I’m not to happy with it, but I’ve beat myself up over it long enough… I’m going to submit it and see what I get.

The second paper wasn’t really an essay. We had to come up with a code of ethics for our pretend company, a training course, system for monitoring, system for auditing, pathways of reporting violations, and a plan to review/update the code. I am really proud of how this paper turned out and can’t wait to see what grade I get.

We’ll let you know the outcome! Hope everyone had a great weekend!
